Middle Eastern Recipes : Side Dishes

Creamy, tangy, and full of good-for-you ingredients, hoummos b'tahini is another Chamely family favourite. A staple in their Lebanese kitchen, this dish is as simple as it is satisfying. Maggie’s version is bright with lime and garlic, and perfect for spreading, dipping—or just eating by the spoonful.

For Caron, Maggie, and Eve, this dish celebrates the joy of homemade food, made to share—and made to last.

Ingredients for
Hoummos B'tahini (Chickpea Dip)

  • 2 cups cooked chickpeas
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 6-8 tbsps lime juice
  • 3-4 cloves garlic
  • 2 tsps salt
  • 1 cup water
  • Paprika for garnish

How to Make
Hoummos B'tahini (Chickpea Dip)

  1. Place all the ingredients in a food processor and blend until everything is thoroughly mixed and smooth.
  2. Taste and adjust for salt and lime, and process again. The extra processing adds air to the hoummos and gives the dip a light, palatable texture.
  3. Transfer to a shallow serving dish.
  4. Garnish with paprika.
  5. Serve chilled with pita bread.
